The Fossicker’s way
It’s a road, a life style, a beautiful part of NSW, an era worth reliving; so you’re very welcome to join us on a journey to discover the fossicker’s way.
From Nundle /Tamworth to Warialda, Glen Innes, to Inverell and Deepwater, in NSW there is a wealth of gems to be discovered. Not only those precious stones we associate as gems but the panoramic country side, and historical buildings to its people and even their pets. It is about character, stick ability, and dreams, another lifetime from the average urban existence.
A trip out west can be the most rewarding experience, and the crew of Gem seek productions is excited to be able open up this magical world to you.

While taking in the fresh air and the peace and quiet, you will be sure to pull out the camera or the fishing rod and take some memories home with you. But I can guarantee were ever you stop it won’t be long before your head down and rear up looking for shiny bits of rock.

A great place to start our travels is Pool brook Sapphire mine, John Warburn owns and operates Pool brook. A unique story was shared, over a quality bottle of Red. Like many of today’s outback Australians fossicking & pioneering is in his blood, born on a rock at Tinga ( so he says) there was never any |

disputing Johns future would be in mining. John has spread his wings as far south as Oberon in the Blue Mountains in search of Water diamonds. That adventure prematurely ended due to a change with mining rights. However, as one door closed another opened, to which John and his wife Louise embraced with passion. A remarkable find eventuated they discovered a wealth of good quality sapphires in the “Toof” layer under the gravel wash. Starting up the machinery John showed just what this Toof could produce, which with John’s wonderful assistance we filmed. Most of Johns produce is exported overseas; high quality gems like these are in great demand throughout Asia and parts of Europe.

Louise Johns wife was another amazing find, being a miners wife breads all sorts of rough neck images from the wild west of America, yet nothing could be more from the truth in this remarkable woman. A petite, immaculately dressed artist & teacher she gave us a tour of her gallery. |
